System & Application Software

First of all we want to know what is Software, basically Software is a collection of instructions, data or programs used to run a computer and do specific tasks.

Software is divided into two major parts : -

1- System Software, System software helps the user, hardware, and application software interact and function with each other.

There are some examples of System Software such as :

• OS or Operating System

• BIOS or Basic input/output system

2- Application Software or simply applications, Application software is software which helps an end user to complete tasks such as creating documents, spreadsheets, databases and publications, doing online research, sending email, designing graphics, running businesses, and even playing games!

there are many types of Application Software and I will write down some of them.

• Word processors: Applications used for documentation such as Microsoft Word, Google Docs, and AppleWorks

• Email programs: Software used for emailing Outlook and Gmail as examples

• Internet browsers: Software used to access and view websites as Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge

Anyway, the applications itself is divided into two categories :

• Basic application software

• Specialized application software.
